Carlo Salvinelli

Agronomist

Carlo Salvinelli is certainly more than simply San Felice’s expert agronomist; he has become its historical memory.
He has been our agricultural expert since 1973, and even earlier in fact, since, as a young student of Enzo Morganti, he accompanied him into the fields and learned from that master all of the practical knowledge concerning his profession, the environment, the plants, the people, and the practices that are part of the centuries-old rural tradition--precisely what is not taught in the schools.
Salvinelli witnessed the growth and changes at San Felice, during the historical shift from sharecropping to independent farming, from promiscuous viticulture to specialised vineyards, and from hand-work to mechanisation.
Assisted today by Roberta Pugliese, our agronomist can recall with pride: “I was the one who planted the first vine of pugnitello.”
